Ten Years in Five Minutes
I have been making a self-portrait drawing in small sketchbooks every day since 1st January 2008. Each portrait is stopped when I sense it reflects how I look, and how I feel, (both physically and emotionally). They are about ageing, they are a diary of time and place, a discipline, good days and bad days, illness even. Above all, they affirm and explore my commitment to drawing from life. I use a variety of media to capture each day's image, and a portrait might take only a few moments or more than an hour to complete. This video is an animation of the first ten years of daily self-portraits. The process continues.
